DIY LIP CARE

DIY LIP CARE

By Lonni Sandbjerg
Dry, parched lips? We’ve got the perfect guide to dealing with your lip woes, once and for all.

Your hair looks like something you’d see on a Hollywood red carpet and your apparel is as glitzy and as glamarous as it needs to be. And now to your lips, ah yes, they are dry and cracking; a minor if not crucial detail that puts everything else off balance. You lick your lips repeatedly, a forlorn attempt at first aid that only makes the problem worse. Smile, and the cracks in your lips open, causing a discomfort that we ladies are all too familiar with. I think you know what I’m on about.

RELIEF!

I’ve put together a DIY lip care mask that has worked wonders for my lips in the harsh cold of the winter. A simple homemade scrub that is used when I’m in the bath or shower is often all it takes to keep my lips moisturized and healthy.

RECIPE

My DIY lip scrub contains 3 essential ingredients that, you will be happy to hear, can be found no further than your kitchen cupboard.

  • 1 teaspoon of honey

  • 1 teaspoon of olive oil

  • 2 teaspoons of ground coffee

Mix the ingredients mentioned above together thoroughly. Massage the resulting mix onto your lips and scrub them softly whilst you are in the bath.
The scrub removes dead skin from your lips and leaves them feeling smooth once again. However, this in itself is not enough to prevent them from drying out. Apply a moisturizing lip balm to your scrubbed, naked lips to nourish them with the care that they need to stay smooth. I can recommend Piz Buin In Sun Lipstick Aloe Vera for its moisturizing qualities and sun protection, which adds an extra dimension of protection to your vulnerable lips.

Tip: Piz Buin is the perfect travel companion for those unforgettable ski holidays that are fun but all too often extremely harsh on your lips.

I can also recommend Maybelline Baby Lips Hydrate as an effective lip balm in the battle against dry lips. Some of you may recognize this high quality, cheap balm from the former face of Maybelline New York in Australia, Ruby Rose, who did a raunchy video where it features prominently. With a factor 20 sun protection quality, it also helps shield your lips from the harmful rays of the sun, albeit in a less profound way than Piz Buin does. Baby Lips Hydrate contains no colour and smells of fresh lemon and basil, a sprightly combination of ingredients that delights your taste and scent buds.
Try out my DIY lip treatment today and give your lips a much-needed moisture boost that adds the final masterstroke to your look. Follow through with one of the many high quality, low-priced lip balms that we sell at Luxplus.co.uk.
