Pregnancy Skincare Saviours
Unfortunately, I haven’t always stuck to the best skincare routine. In fact, I’ve only recently discovered the importance of a good serum! But since I became pregnant, I’ve been embracing new ways to keep my skin hydrated and fresh. Now, not only do I always use a serum, but also an intensive moisturiser in addition to a replenishing lip balm.
Starting with a budget buy, the L'Oreal Skin Perfection Serum is affordable for all at under £4. The packaging is stunning especially for such a bargain product. I also love the bright pink and white ombre look! Although it comes out as a white serum, it quickly blends flawlessly into the skin. It leaves the skin feeling smoother and tighter. My makeup also looks better when applied over the Skin Perfection Serum as well as my moisturiser as it doesn't cling to any dry patches thanks to the extra hydration from the serum. For a higher end serum, I've also been loving Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum. Even though this is a water based serum, it's still perfect for dry/dehydrated skin. It also has quite a floral scent, but luckily this didn't affect my newly hormonal, sensitive skin. The serum soaks into the skin within seconds which means you don't need to wait around to apply your moisturiser or makeup.
When I saw the Vichy Neovadiol Gf Eye and Lip Contours, I was intrigued to say the least. I'd never seen a product like it and even though it's aimed at women older than myself, I do still suffer with lines under my eyes (unfortunately it's genetic) so I wanted to give this a go. I like the metal applicator as it really cools under the eyes and round the lips. This isn't a quick fix but over time, a few weeks or so, you will definitely notice a difference with the lip and eye contours.
To keep those lip moisturised, I'm never without a small pot of Vaseline and the Cocoa Butter one is my favourite! It smells yummy and reminds me of summer. Of course, there are more expensive, high end lip balms but you can't go wrong with a pot of Vaseline. Not only do I use it to moisturise the lips but when my skin when it’s particularly dry. In fact, if I’m on the go, I tend to slather a little of this on my face to keep any dry patches at bay until I can get home and apply a face moisturiser.
To complete my skincare routine, I use a hydrating moisturiser to lock in even more moisture. I've been fond of the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief for a while and it doesn't disappoint. Although, it's more of a gel consistency, and isn't incredibly rich, it still cures dehydrated skin. A cheaper alternative is the Avéne Thermale Hydrance Optimale Rich Hydrating Cream which as the name suggests is a richer, thicker cream than the Clinique moisturiser. On really bad skin days, I tend to opt for this one as I can feel the cream replacing the natural oils in my skin and I can see a difference straight away. But don't make the mistake of using too much, as your skin can start to feel a bit sticky. Also make sure to leave a few minutes before applying makeup as it does take a while to full soak into the skin.
