The Muted Nail Trend – Nailed
Until recently the Summer nail trends were usually very bright, bordering on being neon but this year the trend favours a much more muted approach to nail colour. For me, Spring has always been about the pastels and Summer has been about the brights, but I am loving the new muted almost pastel Summer nail trend inspired by the Spring Summer 2016 Fashion Week. If I'm completely honest, I don't meticulously follow trends as such, but I find the softer tones to be a lot more flattering and considerably more forgiving when you begin to notice tip wear and minor chipping.
To really nail this trend (pardon the pun), I recommend delving into your collection to see which shades you already own and indulge yourself by purchasing a few new additions thanks to the extensive nail polish shade range Luxplus has to offer with sizable discounts. I like to utilise Pinterest to keep up to date with the newest beauty trends, and I always pay particular attention to trends which are fuss-free, low maintenance and can be achieved in the comfort of your own home. I would much rather purchase five or six new trend led nail polishes each season than pay in excess of £30 for a one off manicure, especially when going away as you can simply touch up your talons in a matter of minutes. I have perused the nail polish library within Luxplus in order to recommend my favourite more muted nail polish shades which will undoubtedly suit all budgets...
In my opinion, you can't go far wrong when it comes to Nails Inc Nail Polishes as they're very consistent in terms of quality and longevity. I've chosen three Nails Inc Polishes which I feel suit the muted nail trend very well, kicking off with Nails Inc Bright Street. Bright Street is a pale, beige toned nude which imparts just a tint of colour to the nails in one coat, but can be built up for a more intense effect should you want one. One of my personal favourites is Nails Inc Sheraton Street, which is a beautiful 'Tiffany Blue' which looks flawless in just one single coat, and I particularly enjoy wearing it on my toes.
The last of my Nails Inc picks is Nails Inc Hyde Park Crescent which is bordering on being a denim blue with a lovely muted tone. Alongside my three Nails Inc picks, I had to include the Bourjois La Laque Chair et Tendre which in my opinion is the perfect pastel pink which would flatter those with warm and cool undertones. I don't know why, but there's something about a pretty pastel pink manicure which is just timeless and manages to be effortlessly chic.
I couldn't not include the Maybelline Sunkissed Super Stay Gel Nail Colour in a summer nail roundup with a name like Sunkissed, and true to its name it's a lovely peachy coral which will beautifully flatter sunkissed skin. July and August are most definitely wedding season, and ORLY Kiss the Bride couldn't be more fitting thanks to its very pale pastel pink shade. The formula of Kiss The Bride is best applied in multiple thin coats just like all white based nail shades, but the extra effort really does pay off as it's a stunning shade and it gives such a clean and polished look to the nails.
My penultimate choice is a little different as it's a topcoat rather than a typical polish; the ORLY Pink Flakie Topcoat, which is actually matte, gives a gorgeous multicoloured pastel, dimensional twist to an otherwise plain muted manicure. The last shade within my roundup is quite possibly my standout shade - the Sally Hansen Pretty Piggy Miracle Gel Polish boasts a super impressive formula which genuinely mimics the finish of a gel manicure minus the curing and maintenance which goes hand in hand with gel formula nail polishes. Pretty Piggy is a beautiful pinky coral which is a real mood enhancing shade, and can be used with or without the matching Miracle Gel Topcoat for the perfect longlasting holiday manicure.
